TEMPE, Ariz. - Seven Sun Devil baseball student-athletes were selected in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.

ASU leads all NCAA schools with 396 total MLB draft picks. At least one Sun Devil has been drafted every year since the draft's inception in 1965. The first-ever MLB draft pick was former Sun Devil Rick Monday.

Thirty-eight Sun Devils have been taken in the MLB Draft in head coach Tim Esmay's four seasons at ASU, which is the most of any Div. I school in that time span and five more than the next closest team, Florida.

This marks the 36th time seven or more Devils have been drafted.

Williams is the 13th Devil taken in the first two rounds since 2000, including the fifth pitcher. Pitching coach Ken Knutson has sent 14 pitchers to the Majors since he joined ASU prior to the 2010 season.

Two ASU signees were also drafted in the second round.
