Complete 2000 Schedule

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Series against Florida State, Louisiana State and Oklahoma highlight the 2000 Arizona State baseball schedule released today by head baseball coach Pat Murphy.

"Undoubtedly, it will be one of the top schedules in the country," said Murphy. "We're inexperienced, but the only way to improve is to play the best week in and week out."

The 2000 schedule is similar the 1998 ASU schedule which saw the Devils claim a 41-23 overall and finish as the NCAA College World Series Runner-up. Arizona State will face eight teams who played in the postseason in '99 for a total of 24 games this season.

The Sun Devils will play a 55-game regular-season schedule plus exhibition games against the ASU alumni team and the Anaheim Angels. ASU kicks off the season on January 21 with a three-game series against Utah at Packard Stadium. The Devils will play a total of 40 games in the friendly confines of Packard Stadium.

Highlighting the home series will be a three-game set with 1999 NCAA Runner-up Florida State in early February. ASU will also host the '99 third-place CWS finisher and Pac-10 Champion Stanford Cardinal as well. A single game against Cal State Fullerton is also on the home ticket.

Top road trips include a first-ever trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face LSU. Arizona State will also be making a first-time trip to Pullman, Washington for a series with Washington State.

ASU finished the 1999 season with a 39-21 record, 12-12 in the Pac-10.
