TEMPE, Ariz. - Three Arizona State University baseball student-athletes were named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic team, the conference announced Tuesday. Sophomore first baseman Riccio Torrez was named to the First Team, while junior pitcher Seth Blair and junior outfielder Matt Newman were both named to the Second Team.

Torrez (Phoenix, Ariz.) is an Exploratory major with a 3.48 GPA. He leads the Pac-10 with his .391. Torrez also has nine homers, 50 RBI and has stolen 16 bases.

Blair (Rock Falls, Ill.) earns Academic All-Pac-10 honors for the second straight year thanks to his 3.20 GPA as an interdisciplinary studies major. He is 11-0 with a 3.20 ERA so far this year. Blair was a First Team honoree in 2009.

Newman (Glendale, Ariz.) makes the Second Team for the second straight year with his 3.17 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. The junior is hitting .264 with two homers and 27 RBI.

A student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and either be a starter or a significant contributor to be eligible for All-Academic selection. True freshman and transfer students are not eligible. This is the 14th consecutive season that Arizona State had had at least two members of the All-Academic Team.
