Myers Named GTE Baseball Academic All-American of the Year

Arizona State baseball player Casey Myers was named the 2000 GTE Academic All-American of the Year by CoSIDA. Myers was also selected as a first-team Academic All-American for the second year in a row.

The junior catcher was the only Pac-10 representative on the all-academic team.

Myers, who carries a 4.0 in Mathematics, was honored as the Pac-10 Player of the Year and led the team with a .412 batting average this season. He was a second-team All-America pick by both Collegiate Baseball and USA Today/Baseball Weekly.

Myers is a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench National Catcher of the Year Award and is a candidate for Baseball America's National Player of the Year as well.
