Stanford is the preseason favorite to win the 2000 College World Series, according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper's annual preseason survey of NCAA Division I baseball coaches across the USA. The Cardinal, which finished third at last year's CWS, returns seven position player starters and three pitchers off a team which rolled to a 50-15 overall record and Pac-10 Championship.

The Arizona State Sun Devils came in at No. 28 in the preseason poll. ASU finished 1999 with a 39-21 overall record, 12-12 (5th) in conference play.

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.
