TEMPE, Arix. -- Arizona State's Casey Myers went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI as the USA National Baseball Team defeated Mexico 21-5 on Thusday night at Hi Corbett Field. The Americans scored a season-high run total and posted their second win in as many nights versus Mexico to boost their overall season record to 21-9. Mexico dropped to 1-14.
USA starter Alex Santos (2-0, RHP, So.) tossed six innings and allowed just one run on three hits to notch the victory. He struck out seven and walked two. Sun Devil leftfielder Willie Bloomquist went 0-for-3 with one run scored and two walks on the evening.
The USA National Team amassed 21 runs on 22 hits with no errors while Mexico managed five runs on 10 hits commiting three errors on the night.
Myers is now batting .290 on the year with two doubles, one triple and seven RBI in 12 games played. Bloomquist is hitting at a .271 clip with 23 hits, five doubles and one homerun.
The USA Baseball National Team continues its four-game series with Mexico on Fridaynight at Hi Corbett Field. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. local time. Lefthander Shane Nance (3-0, 1.13 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Americans.
