TEMPE, Ariz. - The 2004 Golden Spikes Award winner will be announced on Fox Sports Net Arizona next Tuesday, July 13, at 2:30 p.m. during the broadcast of the 27th Annual Golden Spikes Award show. Arizona State's Dustin Pedroia is one of five finalists for the award.
The broadcast, presented in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Association, will also highlight USA Baseball's athlete programs as well as some of the various organizational youth baseball initiatives supported by USA Baseball and the MLBPA. The show will be hosted by George Grande.
The other finalists are Mississippi's Stephen Head, Texas' Huston Street, Rice's Wade Townsend and Long Beach State's Jered Weaver. Pedroia is the seventh all-time finalist from Arizona State and tries to become the school's fourth winner of the award (Mike Kelly - '91; Oddibe McDowell - '84 & Bob Horner - '78).
