TEMPE, Ariz. -- When the nationally ranked Arizona State Sun Devil Baseball team takes the field for Sunday home games and on the road this season, they will have a bit of a new look. The Devils will wear a "throwback" jersey for Sunday home games and a newly designed gray sleeveless jersey for all road games.
The Sunday "throwback" jersey is cream-colored jersey with 'Devils' script across the front. The pants will also be cream with a maroon stripe down the front and be baggy to duplicate the old style of uniforms worn in the 1940's and 1950's. The players will also depart from wearing their traditional white spikes on Sunday, in favor of black adidas shoes. The idea originated from a conversation between head coach Graham Rossini during a recruiting dinner at Don & Charlies in Scottsdale.
"Our Sunday uniforms are truly unique and we really think fans will enjoy the new look," said Rossini. "It also gives us a chance to tie in some neat promotions with the 'old school' theme."
The new road jersey remains a gray sleeveless model, but the 'State' script across the front has been replaced by the interlocking A/S logo. The gray pants feature a maroon piping down each side. The Devils will wear their customary white spikes on the road.
ASU's normal home jersey will remain the plain white jersey with 'Devils' in script font across the chest. The jersey debuted last season and is modeled after the Oakland Athletics home jersey.
All uniforms were exclusively designed for the Sun Devil Baseball team by Wilson Sporting Goods.
