Each week we are profiling a member of the Sun Devil Marching Band or Spirit Squad. Meet this week's featured member, Tenor Saxophone Section Leader Brittany Moore.
Q: Why participate in marching band?
A: It gives me something constructive to do throughout college! I've made my closest friends throughout marching band. It's probably the thing that keeps me on track the most with everything because it's such a strict schedule that you have to have good time-management. Mostly I come back every year because I love the people and my director. It's just a good atmosphere!
Q: And why pick the tenor sax?
A: I picked tenor sax because I didn't want to play flute anymore! But I think the tenor sax just fits my personality more. It's a lot of fun and we get the best of both worlds-both the melody and the bass.
Q: Your major is Elementary and Special Education-what do you want to do with that?
A: I want to teach-ideally first grade!
Q: What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A: Two things really stick out: I wanted to be the next Crocodile Hunter and work in that zoo in Australia, and I also wanted to be an archaeologist because of Indianan Jones.
Q: Who's your favorite ASU football player?
A: (laughs) Well, I'm so genaric, but Will Sutton. Last year he was amazing! And he's so nice to everyone in band. Everytime he comes near the band everyone gets so excited...a lot of people would think that football and band don't get along too well but we love each other. We LOVE our football team and the fact that he takes the time to show he loves us back is really cool.
Q: So what's the most-played song on your iPod right now?
A: Right now it's "Applause" by Lady GaGa. I'm a HUGE Lady GaGa fan, for one, but "Applause" just pumps you up...especially because it's football season. We perform for the people and their applause means a lot to us.
