WALNUT CREEK, Calif. –
Katelyn Boyd of the Arizona State softball team was named the Pac-12 Softball Player of the Week for the week of March 4-11 as announced by conference officials Tuesday morning.

This marks the second time in Boyd’s career that she has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, both coming in the 2012 campaign (March 6). After the Sun Devils went 5-0 this past week, Boyd led the offensive strike with a .563 batting average and a team-best 11 runs scored, four homers, 14 RBI and a 1.375 slugging percentage. She leads the club in runs (38), hits (t34), homers (11), RBI (35) and stolen bases (16-17).

Boyd is on a current 16-game hitting streak and an 18-game reached base streak. She recorded her fifth single-game double home run performance in her career against Creighton (March 6), going 3-for-3 in the game with three runs scored, seven RBI, two homers, a double and a walk. The senior came back later in the week for three hits against East Carolina (March 9) and two RBI, three stolen bases against Valparaiso and another three runs scored against New Mexico State (March 11).

She ranks nationally in batting average (10th, 0.493), home runs/game (10th, 0.41), RBI/game (17th, 1.30), slugging percentage (4th, 1.058), runs/game (7th, 1.41) and is the 23rd toughest to strikeout in the nation.

In ASU record books, Boyd is fifth all-time in hits (254), third in home runs (57), second in RBI (216), third in doubles (48) and fourth in stolen bases (77). She is already making a mark on the single-season records with 16 stolen bases, which taps in at 17th.
