TEMPE, Ariz. - Three Arizona State University women's basketball players - redshirt freshman Eliza Normen, redshirt junior Joy Burke and redshirt senior Janae Fulcher - were named to the Pac-12 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, announced by Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott on Tuesday.
Normen (3.57 GPA - Biomedical Engineering), who is enrolled in ASU's Barrett Honors College, was named to the five-member second team. After missing the 2011-12 season due to injury, Normen returned this season and played in all 31 of ASU's contests, which included a pair of starting assignments.
Also a member of Barrett Honors College, Burke (3.41 GPA - Marketing) earned honorable mention honors for the third consecutive season. Like Normen, Burke returned in 2012-13 following a redshirt season the year before. In her first season as a full-time starter, Burke led the Sun Devils in rebounds (6.1 rpg) and blocks (1.0 bpg) and finished third on the team in scoring (7.1 ppg).
Also earning honorable mention honors was Fulcher (3.29 GPA - Master's of Liberal Studies), who will earn her master's degree in May. Fulcher started 30 games in 2012-13 and led the team in scoring (11.5 ppg) and field goal percentage (.517). She scored in double figures 17 times and established new single-game career highs in scoring (26 points), rebounds (13) and blocks (4).
