Career Overview:

  • Participated in the 2014 NBA Draft Combine and tied Oklahoma State’s Markel Brown for best maximum vertical leap (43.5 inches).

  • Carson was the Pac-12 co-Freshman of the Year in 2013 and was considered one of the top returning college players for the 2013-14 season.

  • Made first-team All-Pac-12 his freshman and sophomore years.  

Sophomore (2013-14):

  • Shot .433 from field goal range and .719 from the free throw line.

  • Averaged 4.0 rebounds and 18.6 points per game while averaging 35.4 minutes in 33 games.

  • Posted 153 assists and 23 steals on the season.   

Freshman (2012-13):

  • Averaged 18.5 points per game, which is second only to Ike Diogu’s 19.0 in 2002-03 among Sun Devil freshmen.

  • Jahii also set Sun Devil freshmen records for points (647), field goals made (231) and attempted (488), assists (177), total minutes (1,303), and 20-point games (18).

  • Shot .734 from the free throw line and .473 from field goal range.

  • Carson’s 18.5 points per game ranked seventh in Pac-12 history for freshmen, and his 177 assists ranked sixth.

  • His three 30-point games is a first for a Sun Devil freshman, and the three games rank second, third, and tied for fifth on the single-game Sun Devil freshmen list.

High School:

  • A 2011 Parade Magazine second-team All-American, Carson was Arizona State’s top in-state recruit.

  • He set the New York City holiday tournament record with 36.3 points per game mark in three games in December of 2010.  

  • In his senior season, Jahii set the Mesa High School single-season marks for points per game (32.2) and assists (6.6), breaking the 23.7 points and 5.6 assists per game marks he set his junior year.

  • Led Mesa High to a 21-6 record and to the Class 5A state semifinals his senior season.

  • Led the team to a 25-5 record his junior season.

  • Played in the 2010 Phoenix Fall Showcase and averaged 27 points, 12 assists, and 3 steals.

  • Carson played his sophomore season at Mountain Pointe High School.


Jahii Carson is the son of Jonathan and Vanae.  He is rumored to have dunked a basketball at the age of 13 while being only 5’3”.
