A huge element in the success of both the Sun Devil offense and defense, Mindy Cowles returns for her final season in an ASU uniform, where she looks to only add to her list of accomplishments and records that she has already accumulated. A quick glove and bat, Mindy has held down half of the middle infield with prowess and dexterity that few have possessed before her in Sun Devil history. Last season, Mindy hit .289 on the season with 55 hits, 15 of them for long balls, which gives her 42 career home runs, an ASU career record. She also brought home 54 runs, to put her career RBI tally at 128, fourth all-time in ASU career history as well. While she's proven to be a menace at bat, her glove has also proven itself time and time again. In 2005 she posted a .964 fielding percentage followed with a .937 percentage in 2006 and finally a .959 average last season. At the end of the 2006 and 2007 seasons, Mindy was invited to the National Olympic Tryout Camps.

Mindy is not only making her mark on ASU history though, on March 29, 2006 Mindy hit three home runs for ten RBI against UTEP, which ties her for second place all-time in NCAA history in single game statistics. For her efforts on the field, Mindy has been named to three All Pac-10 Second Teams as well as being honored twice as the Pac-10 Player of the Week in her career.

Cowles also played an important role for ASU during her freshman season, earning Second Team All-Pac-10 honors thanks to her team high .315 batting average. A terror at the plate for the opposition, Cowles knocked ten home runs and plated 30 RBIs in her 42 games. She also scored 37 times and stole 11 bases while drawing a team high 27 walks. On the mound Mindy posted a 1.58 ERA, finishing the year with a 1-1 record. The Riverside Poly High School Product was the 2004 Division I CIF Player of the Year. She was a four-time All-County and two-time All-State pitcher. Cowles was MVP of the 2002 Downey Tournament, and earned League MVP honors in 2003 and 2004. In 2004, Mindy earned the Riverside Sports Hall of Fame Award, and was invited to participate in the Junior Olympic Team tryout camp. She was born on April 8, 1986 to Michael and Carol Cowles.
