ASU men and women’s swimming showed up to Las Vegas looking to compete and they did just that on Thursday, day one of the three-day UNLV Fall Invite. Through the ten events on day one, the Sun Devil women sit in third-place, out of nine total teams.

The women scored a 158.5 and are in reach of second-place Cal, at 192. They are ahead of Pac-12 team Oregon State by three spots and 103.5 points. University of California, Berkley has the lead out of all schools with 329 points.

The ASU men reside in fifth at 102 points, but they are only five points out of third and have Wyoming and UC Santa Barbara clear in their sights looking towards the remaining two days of competition.

Tristin Baxter, who won a plethora of distance races during her recent homestretch at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, finished in second in the Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:43.88. She missed first by a single second, yet still out-competed 22 other swimmers.

A reminder about what’s to come in day two:

Friday: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, and 800 Freestyle Relay.

In Austin, Texas, the men and women divers competed for the first time in three days as well for the Texas Diving Invite.

In the men’s 1 Meter Dive, Riley McCormick sits in fifth after scoring a 367.10. Twenty-one male divers are diving. On the women’s side, ASU’s Hailey Casper dove herself to a sixth-place position after day one.

Live results will be available at UNLVRebels.com, and can also be accessed through the Meet Moblie app on mobile devices.
