TEMPE, Ariz. -- Under the direction of first-year head coach Jay Santos, the Arizona State women's gymnastics team is slated to host the program's annual preseason Maroon vs. Gold meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. MT in Wells Fargo Arena.
The intrasquad meet will provide fans their first opportunity to see the 2017 Gym Devils and is open to the general public free of charge.
At the meet, the 2017 Gym Devils will be split into two teams, the Maroon Team and the Gold Team.
Competing on the Maroon Team are sophomores Corinne Belkoff, Justine Callis, Eileen Imbus and Heather Udowitch, and freshmen Ashley Szafranski, Morgan Hart, Graycee Rushton, and Averie Brook.
The Gold Team will feature senior Beka Conrad, junior Nichelle Christopherson, sophomores Katelyn Lentz and Morgan Wilson, and freshmen Jessica Ginn, Mekayla Jones, and Hannah Everman.
In conjunction with the ASU Police Department, the event will feature a Holiday Toy and Food Drive aimed at garnering donations for local families in need. Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys and non-perishable goods. The department will gather the donations, and further wrap and deliver the gifts to the surrounding community. The drive runs through Monday, December 19.
The Gym Devils return seven letterwinners in 2016-17, including Corinne Belkoff, Justine Callis, Beka Conrad, Eileen Imbus, Katelyn Lentz, Heather Udowitch, and Morgan Wilson.
Making their Arizona State debuts on the season will be junior transfer Nichelle Christopherson and freshmen Averie Brook, Hannah Everman, Jessica Ginn, Morgan Hart, Mekayla Jones, Graycee Rushton, and Ashley Szafranski.
The Gym Devils will open the 2017 season on Friday, Jan. 6 at Iowa State. The first home meet of the year is slated for Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. MT against UC Davis at Wells Fargo Arena. ASU will also play host to Pac-12 foes UCLA (Feb. 4), Stanford (Feb. 18), and Utah (Feb. 25), and a tri-meet with non-conference foes Sacramento State and Bridgeport (March 10).
