TEMPE, Ariz. – Freshman wide receiver N'Keal Harry has been named to the 2016 Scout Freshman All-America team announced by the publication Monday morning.
"He's been phenomenal," said head coach Todd Graham. "He's made progress in his blocking, he's made progress in his route running, he's still learning a lot. He's a guy that has a lot more tools that we can use. You can't ask anymore as far as his development. He's really developed and done really well."
Harry posted one of the greatest seasons ever by an ASU true-freshman. He became just the ninth Sun Devil to start as a true-freshman in a season opener where he recorded three catches for 39 yards in his first appearance in Tempe.
He followed that performance with a six-catch outing against Big 12 foe Texas Tech in just his second game at the D1 level, even hauling in his first career receiving touchdown. It seemed to all slow down for the Chandler, Ariz., product as he finished the season with 58 total receptions, enough to break ASU legend Zach Miller's freshman record of 58 total receptions.
"He's a guy that has great promise," added Graham. "N'Keal is a guy that I'm really proud of and how he has improved his fundamentals of the game as well as his physicality."
Harry's 58 catches led all freshman receivers in the nation and tied for fourth with five touchdowns as he flashed his downfield ball skills throughout the year on his way to the No. 2 grade among freshman receivers by Scout.
Harry's first team honor from Scout marked his third postseason honor, after being named to the Campus Insiders and Pro Football Focus' Freshman All-America teams last week.
