Sun Devil men's basketball head coach Bobby Hurley has added southern California native Anthony Coleman to his coaching staff.

"Anthony comes to Arizona State highly recommended from people that I really respect,'' Coach Hurley said. "He's played at a really high level in college and played professionally overseas. On the court, I think he, along with (assistant coach) Levi Watkins, will enhance our front-court through player development. He can help our front court players get better."

Before working for Adidas since August of 2013, Coleman worked at USC under previous coach Kevin O'Neill as director of basketball operations and player development coordinator. As a player, Coleman played under then-coach Thad Matta at Xavier and then finished his career at Long Beach State, where he averaged 12.3 points and five rebounds as a senior.

After college, Coleman played six years professionally overseas. In Japan he played for the Akita Happinets while in Germany he was with the New Yorkers Braunschweig

He was part of Xavier teams that were Atlantic 10 champions in 2001-02 and played in the NCAA Tournament in 2001 and 2002.

A native of Carson, Calif., he attended Centennial High School, where he graduated in 2000. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Long Beach in 2005. Anthony and his wife Nellie have one son, Avery.
