NORFOLK, Va. – As announced today by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the Sun Devil men's and women's swim and dive teams have earned Scholar All-America Team honors for the Fall 2016 semester.
The honor goes to programs that have achieved a team GPA of 3.00 or higher during the fall semester.
The Sun Devil women posted a 3.39 GPA as a team while the men combined for a 3.04 GPA. The ASU women's average is .17 higher than a season ago.
Arizona State is one of just three members of the Pac-12 to have both their men's and women's team's recognized, alongside Stanford and Utah. Four other members of the conference earned honors for their women's team – Washington State, Oregon State, Cal, and UCLA.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the oldest organization of college coaches in America. The professional organization is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
After hosting two of the nation's top teams in Stanford and Cal last weekend, the teams finish regular season competition at Arizona next Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 pm in Tucson.
The women's swim team as well as both diving teams compete at Pac-12 championships Feb. 23-26 while the men's swim team heads to Federal Way, Wash. the following week (Mar. 1-4) for the championships.
