The Arizona State men's golf team will look to keep their successful start going as they head to Fairfax, Calif, to play in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Oct. 9-10. The tournament will be played at the Meadow Club, a par-71 course that will play to 6,734 yards. ASU will play the 16-team shotgun start with San Jose State, Minnesota and San Diego at 8:15 a.m. Monday. The final 18 holes will be contested Tuesday with tee times off the first and 10th tees beginning at 7:40 a.m.

WAIT, I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO DENVER?:  University of Denver announced the cancellation of the second annual Paintbrush Invitational on Saturday, where ASU was scheduled to play. The two-day tournament that is held at the Colorado Golf Club was scheduled to begin on Monday. The possibility of unusual cold temperatures and chance of snow led to the cancellation of the 54-hole event, but the staff was able to scramble and thanks to the California Golden Bears play this week.

LAST TIME OUT: It only took the young and talented Arizona State team two tournaments to show what they are capable of as the Sun Devils posted an impressive 11-under on the last day to win the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sept. 25. Alex del Rey continued his impressive start with a first-place finish and a three-day total of 10-under par, which included an all-time best final round 65. The Sun Devils had three golfers finish in the top-25, which included freshman Mason Anderson (tied for sixth at 3-under).  Sophomore Blake Wagoner finished T-22, after shooting 4-over. Senior Ryan Douglass also contributed by shooting one of the better rounds for the Sun Devils over the weekend with a final round 69.
