TEMPE, Ariz. – After opening their 2017-18 dual season at No. 3 Michigan, the No. 6 Sun Devils have another daunting test at No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus on Sunday, Nov. 12 (11 am MT).

Here are six things to know and watch for in Sunday's dual:

  1. Ohio State boasts the No. 1 pound-for-pound wrestler, two-time NCAA champion, two-time World champion, and Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder. He will face No. 3/4 Tanner Hall, a returning All-American who finished third at the 2017 NCAA championships. Hall's career record against Snyder is 2-2.
  2. Legendary ASU head wrestling coach Bobby Douglas was born in nearby Bridgeport, Ohio. Douglas led the Sun Devils to an NCAA Championship in 1988, a championship which will be celebrated for its 30th anniversary on Jan. 20, 2018 vs. Oregon State.
  3. Three members of the 1988 National Championship team were from Ohio. Captain Mike Davies (2nd/197) is from Chardon, Dan St. John (3rd/167) is from Cleveland, and Tom Kolopus (Coach) is from North Canton.
  4. Sun Devil Markus Mollica, a two-time NCAA Wrestling Champion, attended Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and graduated in 1991. He grew up in Akron before making the trek to Tempe.
  5. ASU returns eight conference champions (Josh Maruca, Josh Shields, Tanner Hall, Anthony Valencia, Zahid Valencia, Ryan Millhof, Jason Tsirtsis, Christian Pagdilao), four All-Americans (Hall, Z. Valencia, Millhof, Tsirtsis), and one NCAA champion (Tsirtsis) while Ohio State returns five conference champions (Bo Jordan, Joey McKenna, Kollin Moore, Kyle Snyder, Nathan Tomasello), seven All-Americans (B. Jordan, Micah Jordan, Myles Martin, McKenna, Moore, Tomasello) and three NCAA champions (Snyder, Martin, Tomasello).
  6. ASU will return to Ohio in March for the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships, held at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland Mar. 15-17.
The match will be live streamed through Ohio State's website for a fee while live scoring will be on Trackwrestling. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster.
