TEMPE, Ariz. – As announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, three Arizona State teams lead the prestigious Pac-12 Conference in Graduation Success Rate (GSR), including the No. 11 Sun Devil men's swim/dive team, which recorded a perfect 100 percent in the most recent data release.
The 100 percent mark is a significant improvement, up from 91 percent and a third-place ranking in the conference in last year's release. Prior to the 2016 release, the Sun Devil men's program was last in the Pac-12 in GSR in 2014 (73 percent) and fifth in 2015 (80 percent).
GSR is the NCAA's primary tool for measuring academic success in Division I athletics and shows the proportion of student-athletes on any given team who earn a college degree. The NCAA has been releasing GSR data since 2005.
Outside the classroom, the ASU swim/dive programs have also achieved significant improvement and recent upward momentum, named the first and second most improved teams in the nation last season.
Most recently, the men's recruiting class was also ranked the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation. The women's team also recently earned a national ranking, ranked No. 24 by the CSCAA.
After a busy early five-meet homestand, the women's swim (Art Adamson Invitational/Nov. 16-18), men's swim (Texas Invitational/Nov. 30-Dec.2), and dive (NAU Lumberjack Diving Invitational/Nov. 17-19) teams head separate ways over the next few weeks before returning home Wednesday, Dec. 20 to host Indiana.
