TEMPE Ariz.-- Senior Madison Stark became the ninth Sun Devil soccer player to earn Academic All America Honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America, CoSIDA, with her Third Team honor announced by the organization Thursday morning.
A Communications and Journalism major from Claremont, Calif., Stark boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA and was recently named Pac-12 All-Academic First Team, along with fellow senior Jessica Raybe.
Stark earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team in November, before being named to the Third Team All America Team today. The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
A fixture in the Sun Devil defense, Stark played in 77 matches, including 76 starts, for ASU dating back to her freshman season. A two-time captain for the Sun Devils, Stark has been a force for the Sun Devils, firing an impressive 53-career shots, including 17 on goal through her four years in the Maroon and Gold.
Since 2010, ASU has had 33 student-athletes earn Academic All America honors, including three Sun Devil Soccer players. Jasmine Roth (secondnd team) and Kaitlyn Pavlovich (thirrd team) where the last two members to earn the honors following the 2013 season, with Kyleyn Felts (2006-07) representing the last First Team honoree from Sun Devil soccer.
