COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- On day two of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, redshirt junior Maggie Ewen captured her second-straight First-Team All-American in as many days with a sixth-place finish in the weight throw on Saturday at Texas A&M's Gilliam Indoor Stadium. She becomes just the third ASU female thrower to earn First-Team All-American honors in four throwing events -- the shot put (indoor or outdoor), weight throw, hammer throw and discus.

After entering the final three rounds in ninth place, Ewen's fifth throw of 20.97m (68-9.75) moved her up into sixth overall.

"It was a fantastic weekend for Maggie," said throwing coach Brian Blutreich. "She stepped up her game as far as how to compete and took the next step as we now head into the outdoor season. She came up big on her third throw of the first series to qualify for the final, when she probably wasn't favored to make the final. Then to move up into sixth on one of her last throws really showed how far she's come mentally and physically. I couldn't be happier."

Last season, the redshirt junior captured the first of her four First-Team honors in the hammer throw and discus at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Only former two-time NCAA champions Sarah Stevens and Jessica Pressley had previously earned All-American honors in all four fields.

Ewen compiled a total of eight points for 27th place in the women's team standings.

The entire Sun Devil track and field team now transitions into the outdoor season, with the first meet in their own backyard as they host the Baldy Castillo Invitational this coming weekend at the Joe Selleh Track in Tempe. The two-day meet begins on Friday, March 17 at 1:40 p.m. MST.
