TEMPE, Ariz. – Fourteen members of the Sun Devil track and field program were named MPSF All-Academic Scholar Athletes for the 2017 indoor season, announced Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Director Al Beaird.
Eleven Sun Devil women and three men earned the conference honors, with a total of four – Kaylee Antill, Keyasia Tibbs, Vanessa Davis and Ashley Weber -- holding a 4.00 GPA or above.
This becomes Weber's third-straight MPSF honor, while Tibbs' and Masolini's second straight. It is the first honor for every other Sun Devil.
Antill leads the women with a 4.07 GPA, while Tibbs is right on her heels at a 4.03.
Juniors Kristiana Warth, Haleigh Fritts, Melese Crozier and Billie Jo Dytrt also earned all-academic honors, with sophomore Jessica Barreira rounding out the nine women.
Warth and Fritts, who are both pole vaulters, boast a 3.85 GPA, with Barreira, Crozier and Dytrt all following with a 3.64, 3.52 and 3.40, respectively. Fellow vaulter Athena Masolini continues to thrive as a 'Scholar Baller' with a 3.18 GPA along with Woodson at 3.13.
For the men, thrower Michael Titherington, jumper Mason Ford and distance runner Brandon Boys qualify for the men. Titherington leads the trio with a 3.23 GPA as a Kinesiology major, while Ford and Boys are neck-and-neck with a 3.14 and 3.10, respectively.
Each student-athlete must hold a 3.00 GPA or better, at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at the institution, and competed in fifty percent or more of the indoor events.
