TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devils not only appeared live the Golf Channel as part of the Morning Drive selection show, the team also learned they will be the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Lubbock (Texas) Regional (May 8-10) during the broadcast.

The 6,593-yard, par-72 Rawls Course, home to host-Texas Tech, was completed in September 2003 and features a 60-acre driving range. Golfweek Magazine named it the No. 4 campus course in the U.S. in September 2016.

"We're very excited," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We have a little bit of a family tie to Texas Tech. Linnea Strom's brother, Adam, plays on the men's team there so we really love the family aspect. I've coached a regional there before so we're really excited to be there."

Pac-12 champion UCLA is the No. 1 seed just ahead of ASU in the No. 2 spot in the 18-team Lubbock Regional followed by Furman, Kent State, Texas, Oklahoma, BYU, San Diego State, Texas Tech, TCU, UNLV, Oregon, Iowa State, Oregon State, Murray State, Georgetown, Richmond, and Sacred Heart.

Alongside No. 7 Arizona State, five other teams ranked in the latest Golfstat top-25 – No. 2 UCLA, No. 10 Furman, No. 15 Kent State, No. 18 Texas, No. 23 Oklahoma – will compete in Lubbock.

"We look at it as just another tournament, one where we have certain goals. We play all over the country so we have a familiarity with most teams across the nation, so we'll be ready to go."

Six individuals will also compete in Lubbock including Caroline Nistrup (LSU), Marlene Krolboll Hansen (Coastal Carolina), Lois Kaye Go (Boston College), Alivia Brown (Washington State), Jakeishya Le (UC Riverside), and Katrina Predergast (Colorado State).

The other three regional sites are Albuquerque, N.M., Columbus, Ohio, and Athens, Ga.

A testament to the strength of the Pac-12, 10 of 11 schools that sponsor women's golf will be participating in regional competition with Stanford, USC, Cal, and Washington in Albuquerque, Arizona in Athens, Colorado in Columbus, and ASU, UCLA, Oregon, and Oregon State in Lubbock.

"The chemistry on this team in special and the fact that we have people from Italy, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, America, it's pretty cool how we bond, sing the same songs, and laugh at the same jokes. It's really important to have fun and we work really hard but we want to have fun while doing it."

From each of the four regional sites, the low six teams and low three individuals not on those teams (24 teams, 12 individuals in total) will advance to the national championships May 19-24, 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois (host: Northern Illinois University).

Live results for the regional will be available on Golstat.com.
