TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil hockey program has made a schedule change for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 season, resulting in a switch in home-and-home series with the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

The Chargers were scheduled to host Arizona State on Dec. 2-3 in Huntsville, but will now instead travel to Tempe on Nov. 3-4, 2017. Both games will be played at Oceanside Ice Arena.

ASU will finish the home-and-home series in 2018-19, as they travel to Huntsville on Oct. 19-20, 2018.

"These things happen from time to time, but we feel adding two more home games to the 2017-18 season gives us more home and away balance," said head coach Greg Powers. "It makes for sense for not only our players but our fans as well. Adding these two games gives us 15 total home games next season plus two regional games in Las Vegas. We are still very excited to head to Huntsville in the 2018-19 season and play in front of our alumni base and Sun Devil Nation in the southeast. Our schedule lays out very well through the 2018-19 season and this tweak just made sense for all involved."

The switch provides a weekend off in November and in December for the Sun Devils. In 2016-17, the team got just two weekends off throughout the entire season, with the last one coming before their final two games of exhibition play against the U.S. U-18 National Development team in late February.

The Sun Devils' season starts at home on Saturday, Sept. 30 with an exhibition against Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Tempe, followed by a two-game home series to begin the regular season against UMass-Amherst. A location for the two games has yet to be determined.
