LUBBOCK, Texas – Amidst significantly windy conditions similar to what they faced at Pac-12 championships two weeks ago, No. 7 Arizona State women's golf kept their composure and currently sits in the top spot through one round at NCAA Regionals in Lubbock.

"Overall it was a good day and I'm very pleased, although we struggled at the finish," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "But with about six hours on the golf course with sustained winds of over 20 mph, I think we did pretty well."

Notably, three of the top four teams are from the Pac-12 as Oregon (+6/294) is just behind ASU (+5/293) in second while No. 2 UCLA (+8/296) is in a tie for third with host Texas Tech.

Individually, senior Monica Vaughn, on what would be her graduation day, led the Sun Devils, currently in a three-way tie for fourth, shooting one-under on the day (71). Vaughn is three strokes out of the lead, behind Pac-12 individual champion Lilia Vu from UCLA (-4/68).

Rounding out the countable quartet for ASU, Olivia Mehaffey, Sophia Zeeb, and Linnea Strom are all part of a 10-way tie for 16th through 18 holes (+2/74).

"Regionals is a three-day tournament, and we still have work to do the next two days. I think the best thing we did today was keep our composure in difficult conditions on a difficult golf course. I look forward to the next two days and watching our Sun Devils compete."

The Sun Devils will be paired with Oregon and Texas Tech in round two on Tuesday, starting on hole one, between 9:50-10:30 am CT (7:50-8:30 am PT).
