TEMPE, Ariz. – Ten members of the Arizona State gymnastics team earned Scholastics All-America recognition by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC/W), the organization announced.
The accolade caps an exceptional 2016-17 academic year for the Gym Devils that saw the team post a program-best 3.57 GPA, while placing seven student-athletes on Pac-12 Academic teams. The squad's 3.57 mark accounted for the third-best in the Pac-12 Conference and the 19th-best in the nation.
Sophomores Corinne Belkoff (Business – Law) and Heather Udowitch (Business – Sports and Media) paced the Gym Devils each posting GPAs of 4.00, as the two garnered the prestigious distinction for a second-consecutive season. Also earning All-America honors for a second time were sophomore Katelyn Lentz (3.78, Interior Design) and senior Beka Conrad (3.93, Interdisciplinary Studies), while Sophomore Morgan Wilson (3.64 – Exercise and Wellness) also netted honors in her second season with the Maroon and Gold.
A strong contingent of Arizona State newcomers also earned placement among the nation's top scholastic performers including freshmen Averie Brook (3.66 – Business Communication), Jessica Ginn (3.94 – Kinesiology), Morgan Hart (3.60 – Geography), Ashley Szafranski (3.73 – Integrative Health), and Junior Nichelle Christopherson (3.89 – Political Science).
In May, the Gym Devils were recognized as one of the nation's top academic programs, after it was announced that the team had earned a perfect Academic Progress Rate score of 1000, to garner positioning among the NCAA's top-10 percent performers.

Incoming Junior Kaitlyn Szafranski, who is slated to join the Gym Devils for the upcoming 2018 season after spending two seasons at Louisiana State University, also earned a spot on the NACGC Scholastic Academic All-America list after posting a 3.65 GPA (Kinesiology).
