Jump and Slaysman earn individual all-academic honors from the ITA

TEMPE – Arizona State senior Kassidy Jump and freshman Savannah Slaysman were included on the 2017 ITA Division I Scholar Athletes list, and the Sun Devil women's tennis squad was named as an all-academic team for the ninth-straight year.

For Jump, the honor was just the most recent in a list of accolades and achievements from her Sun Devil career.

Her senior season included three win-streaks of four matches or more and a trip to the NCAA Championships as an individual, as well as with the No. 26 Sun Devils. She also earned honorable mention academic honors in the conference for her work in the classroom.

Slaysman's freshman campaign on the hard court ended with a six-match win-streak that included a run through the Pac-12 and NCAA Team Championships.

She finished the season with 20 wins, joint with Jump for second-most on the team.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

The team honor is the Sun Devils' ninth consecutive under coach Sheila McInerney.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.20.
