The Sun Devil men's tennis program has Benjamin Hannestad and Michael Geerts competing this weekend at the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Championship of the 2017-18 season, as Pepperdine and Malibu Racquet Club serve as hosts of the third annual 2017 Oracle ITA Masters.
The men's and women's singles champions earn automatic entry into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which will be held November 1-5, in Palm Desert, California. The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships replaces the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.
GEERTS NOTED HIGHLY: Senior Michael Geerts is listed here as the fourth-best newcomer in the nation by the Oracle-ITA rankings. He is seeded fourth this weekend and will take on Nebraska-Omaha's Razvan Grigorescu in the first round. Hannestad, seeded 12th, will be taking on Matic Spec of Minnesota.
