TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State volleyball team and head coach Jason Watson announced on Thursday that Lexi MacLean (OH/Frisco, Texas/Centennial HS) will join the Sun Devils for the 2015 season.
"We are extremely fortunate to have an athlete of Lexi's caliber,” Watson said. “She has work incredible hard for this opportunity. Her work ethic and commitment to improvement are attributes we admire and need at ASU. I'm excited to begin this journey with Lexi."
A two-year team captain for Centennial High School, MacLean’s team was the District 9-5A Champions in each of her four years on the squad. During her senior season, the Titans went 40-4, and MacLean was named both First-Team All-State and First-Team All District. Additionally, MacLean was the 2014 District Blocker of the Year, and a First-Team All-Academic honoree. She earned All-Tournament accolades three times as a senior, totaling 419 kills, 339 digs, 90 blocks, and 58 service aces.
In her high school career, MacLean has been named First-Team All-District three times and second-team once, is a three-time First-Team All-Academic honoree, and a two time selection for the AVCA Under Amour Phenom list.
MacLean also played on club teams while in high school, and was a team captain for her 15 open and 16 opens, which finished 6th at the Girls Junior National Championship and 4th in Girls Junior National Championship, respectively. Her 17 open team was the GNJC National Champion, and she was part of the 18 open team that has currently won more than 100 consecutive matches and counting.
The daughter of Duncan and Sherri MacLean, she intends to major in health sciences at ASU, and has three brothers, Halston, Parker, and Sully. MacLean’s father played football at Salisbury University.
