    Swimming and Diving Falls to Cal in Final Home Meet of Season

    Final Stats

    The Arizona State swimming and diving team concluded its final home meet of the 2008-09 season. The Sun Devils were unable to garner wins for 11 seniors who competed in their last meet at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The men fell to No. 5 Cal 148-93 while the women suffered a 162-91 setback to No. 4 Cal.

    Brittany Jumer earned two wins for the Sun Devils. The sophomore diver completed a sweep of the diving events, earning 267.00 points in the 1-meter and 299.40 points in the 3-meter. Senior Erin Hobbs placed second on the 3-meter during her final competition at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. She also tied for second on the 1-meter. Micky Benedetti earned a win in the 3-meter but was about one and a half points off Cal's Thomas Henninger in the 1-meter.

    Freshman Jordyn Green continued to have an outstanding weekend for the Sun Devils. The Reno, Nev., native was a double-winner, taking the 100 (1:03.66) and 200 breast (2:16.23). In the 100 breast, the Sun Devils went one, two and three as Sara McDaniel (1:04.85) and senior Ilene Lesch (1:07.03) went second and third respectively.

    Senior Vinicius Waked picked up a win in the 200 free. The Brazilian clocked in a time of 1:40.49. Mohammed Madwa and Tony Cisneros went second and third in the 50 free, finishing in 46.66 and 46.67 respectively. Rikka Brunner tied for second in her final event at Mona Plummer. The Washington native hit the wall in 2:03.55 in the 200 back. Ashton Aubry took second in both butterfly events.

     

     

    The Sun Devils will celebrate Valentines Day in Tucson to compete in their final dual of the season against rival Arizona.
