Swimmer Brunelli Ends London Olympics Bid

OMAHA, Neb. - Sun Devil swimming alum Nick Brunelli ended his bid for the London Olympics, Saturday, narrowly missing out on the finals in the men’s 50 free in Omaha, Neb.
Brunelli qualified in the morning for the semifinals in the 50 free swimming the sprint in a time of 22.57 for the 12th-best time overall. However, in the semifinal competition Brunelli would finish the competition with an 11th-best time of 22.39, just shy of a top-eight finish, which would have advanced him to the event finals.
Brunelli, who graduated from ASU in 2005, earned 16 All-American honors while competing for Arizona State and won a Pac-12 Championship in the 200 free in 2004. He and wife Jenn look forward to welcoming twin boys this fall.
