    Baxter Takes Fifth On First Day of US Open Championships

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Junior swimmer Tristin Baxter took fifth place in the women's 800 free, Tuesday, on the first day of competition at the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

    Baxter, a distance swimming for the Sun Devils, swam the 800 free in a personal-best time of 8:39.70.

    Senior Shannon Landgrebe finished 12th overall in her first race of the competition. Landgrebe, one of the Sun Devils' top sprinters, swam the 100 free in a time of 56.28, which is the second-fastest time she has recorded in the event.

    Tomorrow Baxter competes in the 400 and incoming transfer Taylor Wohrley competes in the 200 back.
