#SunDevilOlympian McCormick Finishes 11th in 10M Olympic Finals

    Aug. 11, 2012

LONDON--Arizona State junior diver Riley McCormick finished in 11th place in the Olympic finals of the men's 10-meter platform on the last day of competition in the 2012 London Olympic games.

McCormick scored a total of 493.35 in the final round, including recording a final dive of 95.40.

At Arizona State, McCormick was back-to-back Pac-10 Diver of the Year in 2010-11. His freshman season he was the NCAA Runner-Up on the 10m platform and was back-to-back Pac-10 Platform Champion in '10, '11. In 2012, McCormick grey shirted to focus on Olympic training in Canada. He will return this fall to start his junior season for the Sun Devils.

McCormick edged out the last Olympic gold medalist Australia's Matthew Mitcham to qualify for the finals. The Sun Devil scored a 97.20 on his final dive, the fourth-highest dive of the semifinals, to secure a spot in the top-12.

Last Sun Devil diver to compete in the Olympic finals was recent ASU graduate Elina Eggers (3.96 GPA in Economics), where she finished 12th on the women's 10m platform in the 2008 Beijing Olympic games for Sweden.
