Chris Benard - Athlete of the Week
Chris Benard set the school indoor record in the triple jump during the opening weekend of the 2012 track & field season.
Arizona State: 2011 Outdoor: Competed in the final round of the NCAA Division 1 Championships in 2011 in the triple jump where he was 19th overall... placed fourth at the Pac-10 Championship finals in both the long jump with a mark of 24-04.50 (7.43m) and triple jump with a leap of 51-03.50 (15.63m) to score 10 points up for the Devils... set a career record at the 53rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays in the long jump with a jump of 24-5 (7.44m)...placed third at the 2011 Arizona State Invitational in the triple jump... 2011 Indoor: Placed eighth at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships in the long jump to score points for the Sun Devils... won the triple jump for the Devils at the Lumberjack Invitational to set a career best mark of 51-10 (15.80m), a mark that sits fifth on ASU's all-time indoor list... competed in the triple jump at the Texas A&M Challenge to take fourth with a 49-00.75 (14.95m) jump...
Riverside: Earned his Associates degree from Riverside Community College (Riverside, Calif.) in 2010... competed on the track & field team for two years... swept the California State College Championships in the long jump and triple jump in his final year at RCC... selected as the team MVP... ended his career ranked second all-time in school history in the triple jump...
