TEMPE – The Arizona State University track and field program continues added to the depth in the women’s distance group with the addition of Miranda Kewley (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak HS), who has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Sun Devils, head coach Greg Kraft announced.
Kewley was ninth in the CIF State Finals at the 2012 Cross Country Championships, and it was the 10th-best time by a senior at any level in the CIF.
Kewley led her team to a CIF Division I team title and an appearance at the 2012 Nike Cross Country Nationals. She has also clocked a career-best two-mile time in 10:59.
She went on to a fourth-place finish last season at the Division I CIF Finals at 3,200-meters in the same race where her current Sun Devil Adriana Olivas finished second.
ASU Distance Coach Ryan Cole on Kewley:
“She’s a very interesting product. Anytime you’re the top runner on the California State Championships team, you understand not just your own progress and development, but what it takes to build a great program. We are looking forward to a very unique skill set that she will bring to our program as both an individual and as a team leader.”
