Sun Devil Men's XC Wins Second Meet of the Season
Schnieders paces men, ASU women finish as runners-up at GCU Invite
2011 Track: Redshirted... 2010 XC: Ran in six races... finished 11th in the George Kyte and then 14th in the Dave Murray events to open the year... was fifth on the team at the Pac-10 meet... earned Academic All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention... 2010 Outdoor: Competed in a pair of events... ran a best of 4:46.51 in the 1,500m run to place 10th at the Baldy Castillo Invitational... also ran a best of 11:31.47 at the ASU Invitational in the 3,000m steeplechase... finished sixth in the event at the Double Dual as well... 2010 Indoor: Broke five minutes in both of her mile runs on the season... posted a season-best 4:56.99 to finish 13th at the MPSF Championships... 2009 XC: Redshirted... posted a pair of third-place finishes as an unattached runner... took third at the ASU Invitational and the Mesa Thunderbird... also placed 23rd at the Dave Murray Invitational.
High School: A 2009 graduate of Arroyo Grande High School (Arroyo Grande, Calif.)... lettered four times each in cross country, track & field and soccer for the Eagles... captained the cross country team four times and soccer twice... in cross country, was selected all-league all four years and All-CIF as a senior... on the track, also was a four-time all-league honoree... set the school record in three events, including the 800m (2:15), 1,600m (4:57) and 3,200m (10:48)... in soccer, was coached by her mother (Laurie) and helped her team to a league title... selected all-league all four seasons she played and was a three-time First Team All-CIF honoree... also voted as the MVP of her league twice, as well as being selected the Offensive Player of the Year twice... academically, honored with the Rick Wanzer Memorial and AGHS Endowment Scholarships.
Personal: Major is biological sciences... member of the prestigious Barrett Honors College at ASU... parents are Heath and Laurie Owens... comes from an athletic family that includes six relatives that have competed in collegiate sports... mother Laurie competed in track and field at Cal Poly SLO and father Heath played football at CPU... two relatives played soccer at Santa Clara, another lacrosse and one competed in track & field at Georgetown... has one brother: Garrett... born December 22, 1990, in San Luis Obispo, Calif.... full name is Karlee Mychael Owens.
