TEMPE, Ariz. - Right-hander Trevor Williams posted a four-hit shutout in his first career complete game to lead the 21st-ranked Arizona State baseball team to a 4-0 victory over USC on Saturday night at Packard Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

Abe Ruiz went 3-for-4 from the plate and four different Sun Devils (22-13, 8-6) collected an RBI en route to a nine-hit night.

Williams (7-2) picked up his seventh win of the season after allowing just six base runners while striking out six in nine innings.

The Devils struck first in the opening frame after Deven Marrero tripled and Joey DeMichele drove him home on an RBI sacrifice fly.

ASU added a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend its lead to three. Kasey Coffman singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on an RBI double by Andrew Aplin. Marrero followed with an RBI single to bring around Aplin.

Ruiz led off the eighth inning with a double and James McDonald singled in the next at-bat before Ruiz scored on an RBI groundout by Beau Maggi.

Trojans (19-13, 5-8) left-hander Stephen Tarpley (4-1) was dealt his first loss of the season after conceding three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings.

The Sun Devils face USC at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Packard Stadium in the finale of their three-game Pac-12 series against the Trojans. Tim Healey and Seth Dhaenens will have the call on The Fan AM 1060 and FoxSportsArizona.com will stream it live online.
