OMAHA, Neb. - The Arizona State University baseball team fell 10-6 to Texas in the 2009 College World Series on Tuesday in front of a crowd of 24,152 at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Sun Devils are now 50-13 on the season, and they will face North Carolina in an elimination game on Thursday.

Texas catcher Cameron Rupp hit two home runs, including a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh, to lead the Longhorns. Pitcher Taylor Jungmann went 5.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory.

Kole Calhoun had three hits, including his second home run of the College World Series, to lead the Sun Devil offense. Carlos Ramirez also had a home run, his team-leading 19th of the season, and Jared McDonald drove in two runs.

The Sun Devils jumped on top early, scoring three runs each in the second and third innings. However, Texas rallied to tie the game with a six-run fourth inning that chased ASU starter Mike Leake from the game. Leake went 3.1 innings and allowed six runs (five earned) and eight hits.

The game remained tied until the top of the seventh, when Rupp led off the inning with a solo homer to right off Mitchell Lambson. Texas would add three more runs off the Sun Devil bullpen in the eighth to cap off the scoring.

Lambson took the loss to drop to 9-4, allowing two runs over 3.1 innings of relief.

The Sun Devils will continue play in the College World Series, facing North Carolina in an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Tar Heels eliminated Southern Mississippi with an 11-4 win in earlier action on Tuesday.
