2005 College World Series - Pictures of Day 2 (Part 2)

    June 17, 2005

After a break, the Sun Devils returned to Rosenblatt Stadium, home of the "Greatest Show on Dirt".

Outside the stadium, a statue depicts the celebration of a championship.

Fans lined up for the autograph session hours in advance.

As the fans came through the gates, they received autographs from Sun Devil players on ...

    ... replica baseballs ...

    ... hats ...

    ... bats ...

    ... hands and ...

    ... heads!

This fan was able to receive an autograph from each member of the Sun Devil team, all on his head.

Arizona State players interact with fans during the autograph session.

Dave Ryan (ESPN) spoke during the opening ceremonies Thursday night.

The 2005 Arizona State Sun Devils take the field.

Even Kai Murphy, son of Head Coach Pat Murphy, was on hand.

Members of the Navy S.E.A.L. "Leapfrogs" parachute onto the field.

The first paratrooper down carried the Arizona State flag ...

... as well as a large ploom of smoke to alert the fans of the team's falling to the ground.

Senior captain Tuffy Gosewisch accepted the Arizona State flag from the Leapfrogs on behalf of the team.

Erik Averill was honored by the NCAA for holding the highest grade point average on the Sun Devil squad this season.

The ceremony concluded with a large firework display.
