Outstanding student-athlete who earned his B.A. in Global Studies with a 3.05 grade point average in 2009 and was one of the nation's most improved players in 2009-2010. After scoring 57 points in junior season (2008-09), he averaged 8.8 points and 7.2 boards and shot a Pac-10 best 66.5 percent (117-of-176) from the field in his senior season (2009-10) including a league-best .660 (68-of-103) in Pac-10 games. When you add his Duke and Arizona State records, he played on teams that compiled a 100-38 (.725) record in his four seasons. His ASU record .665 field goal percentage in 2009-10 matched Bill Walton for eighth the Pac-10 single-season list and was the best by a Pac-10 hooper since Jelani McCoy of UCLA set the Pac-10 record by shooting .756 in 1996-97. Eric's .644 career field goal clip (197-of-306) also is an ASU record, and he posted 15 games of double-digit points, including 12 in his senior season. SUN DEVILS McDONALD'S ALL-AMERICANS

JUST YOUR NORMAL EVERYDAY STUDENT WHO IS FLUENT IN TWI
Eric passed his Twi language exam in October of 2007 and has completely fulfilled the language requirement (two years) for his major of Global Studies. Sound simple? Hardly. When learning of the language requirement in his major, Eric was told by the ASU Department of Language at ASU that if he could find a professor who was willing to test him in Twi - an African language - they would accept it, because he was already fluent in it. Eric contacted Indiana University, who happened to have a Twi professor on staff. After a few months of preparation, he took the exam in the fall, it was mailed to IU where the written part was graded and they notified the Department of Language here that he had passed. PRIOR TO ASU
Was a member of Duke 2005-06 squad that went 32-4, advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in 2005-06, won the ACC regular season title with a 14-2 record and then won the ACC Tournament. He played in 20 games and saw action in six ACC regular season games, two ACC tournament games and two NCAA Tournament games. Also a three-year letterman at the St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Del., and was coached by Bobby Rue. Eric averaged 19.6 points, 13.6 rebounds and 4.6 blocks in career played in the 2005 Jordan Classic. He was the 2005 Gatorade Delaware Player of the Year and a Parade All-America fourth-team pick who averaged 21.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and five blocks. He was the first McDonald's All-American in Delaware prep history. ERIC BOATENG'S CAREER HIGHS
