The Sun Devil men's hoops team (13-2; 2-0) takes its two wins in Pac-12 play north to Corvallis and Eugene, as it starts its league road slate with the trip it did not make last year. ASU joined the Pac-10 in 1978-79, and you can count on one hand without a thumb the number of times it has been 2-0 in 35 seasons prior to this year: 1979-80 (5-0), 1987-88 (4-0) and 2007-08 (4-0). Senior Carrick Felix earned Pac-12 Player of the Week after the home sweep of Utah and Colorado, his second such honor of the year. Carrick has scored in double-digits in 14 straight games, tied for second in the league. He currently ranks ninth in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg.), eighth in rebounding (7.9), eighth in field goal percentage (.553), fifth (tie) in steals (1.7), tenth in three-point percentage (.392) and seventh in blocks (1.5). He is the only player listed among top-10 in scoring and rebounding. ASU has 13 wins in Corvallis and 16 in Eugene since joining the Pac-12, the most of any road swing in its Pac-12 history, as Coach Sendek is 3-2 in both Corvallis and Eugene. ASU has 120 blocks in 15 games (8.0 per game, third in the nation) and opponents have taken 926 shots so that means every 7.7 field goal attempt gets blocked by a Sun Devil.

    DON'T MISS THIS ONE
Jordan Bachynski (.656) leads the Pac-12 and Carrick Felix (.553) ranks eighth in field goal percentage. It makes for a nice note as it stands, but then digest these next two nuggets from the big and small department. In the case of Jordan, a big man being efficient in the post is not man-bites-dog news for a Coach Sendek Sun Devil squad. In 2008-09, Jeff Pendergraph led the nation in field goal percentage making .660 of his shots (198-of-300). One year later, Eric Boateng led the Pac-12 at .665 (117-of-176) despite playing 8.2 minutes per game the year prior. In the case of Carrick, a peek at the top-10 shows a lot of big men making layups in small, but efficient doses (nothing against that Jordan). Then there is Carrick, who has taken 34 more shots than anyone else in the top-10, and has taken 51 three-pointers. The seven players ahead of him have taken a total of 10 three-pointers.

PAC-12 TOP FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE/THREE-POINT SHOOTING

    2. Omar Oraby (USC) 45-71 (.634)/0-0
    3. Aziz N'Diaye (WASH) 62-99 (.626)/0-0
    4. Eric Moreland (OSU) 59-95 (.621)/3-9
    5. Jason Washburn (UTAH) 63-102 (.618)/1-1
    6. Tony Woods (ORE) 60-105 (.571)/0-0
    7. Devon Collier (OSU) 72-127 (.567)/0-0
    8. Carrick Felix (ASU) 89-161 (.553)/20-51
    9. Kevin Parrom (ARIZ) 47-86 (.547)/18-41

15 GAMES DONE, HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW
In first 41 games of ASU career Jordan Bachynski shot 42-of-88 (.478) from field. In the past 28 games he is 106-163 (.650). He has 69 blocks on the year, tied for fourth-best in Sun Devil history (more on the blocks later)...senior Carrick Felix (B.S., Communications 2012) is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, has 20 blocks and is shooting 76-of-133 (.571) from the field and 17-of-42 (.405) from the three-point stripe in past 12 games...freshman Jahii Carson is averaging a Pac-12 best 35.9 minutes per game, the best mark by a freshman in Sun Devil history. The dude with the Beard lighting up the NBA averaged 34.1 in 2007-08.

    JORDAN BLOCK-SHYNSKI
ASU is third in the nation in blocks per game (8.0), trailing only St. John's (8.9) and Kansas (8.4), led by junior Jordan Bachynski's 69 (4.6 per game) as he also ranks third. Jordan has as many blocks as 299 schools entering this week...in the first six seasons (197 games) of Coach Sendek's ASU tenure, ASU had nine blocks in a game four times. It has had at least nine blocks eight times this season..an overlooked block statistic for Jordan is keeping it in play. Of his 69 blocks, more than 60 percent (42) have resulted in direct possessions for ASU. He has now 130 career blocks, seventh in Sun Devil history. The Sun Devil career record is 191 (Mario Bennett from 1991-95). Next up is Jeff Pendergraph, who had 131 from 2005-09. Also, in the first 41 games of his ASU career Jordan shot 42-of-88 (.478) from the field, but in the past 28 games he is 106-163 (.650).

    VS. COLORADO (JAN. 6)
The Sun Devils fell behind 13-2, 17-4 and 20-7 to a good Colorado squad but never quit and rallied with a strong second half for a convincing 65-56 win over the Buffaloes...senior Carrick Felix posted his fourth 20-point game of the season and added eight boards, while Jordan Bachynski added 16 points, seven boards and nine blocks, the most by a Sun Devil in a Pac-10/12 game in 35 years...ASU held the Buffs to 10-of-38 (.263) shooting in the second half and 2-of-19 (.105) three-point shooting for game...ASU had 13 blocks, the most in a league game since it had 13 vs. Washington on Jan. 9, 2003...ASU improved its home record to 10-1, one year after going 7-10 on Ned Wulk Court...ASU came back to win from a halftime deficit for the 21st time under Coach Sendek.

    VS. UTAH (JAN. 2)
ASU didn't shoot it well (23-of-62/.371 from the floor and just 4-of-18/.222 from three) but only turned it over eight times in a 55-54 overtime win over Utah on Jan. 2. ASU opened its Pac-12 season at home for the first time since the 2007-08 season (five years) and for just the 14th time in 35 Pac-10/12 seasons. Senior Carrick Felix (B.S., Communications, 2012) led the way with his fourth double-double in eight games with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Jahii Carson had 15 points, four assists and just one turnover in 44 minutes.

    WORTH NOTING
One sneaky note to keep an eye on in case he isn't doing much in the first half -- Jahii Carson is averaging 10.1 points in the second half including 57-of-72 (.792) from the free throw line. He leads the Pac-12 in minutes per game at 35.9 (third in the nation for a freshman) while sophomore Jonathan Gilling is third at 35.1.

    CARRICK UPDATE
Senior Carrick Felix (B.S., Communications 2012) is averaging 9.4 rebounds in the past nine games and in the past 12 games he is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, has 20 blocks and is shooting 76-of-133 (.571) from the field and 17-of-42 (.405) from the three-point stripe. He now has nine 20-point games and four this year (24 vs. Arkansas, 21 vs. Sacramento St. and vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 20 vs. Colorado)...after not having a double-double in the first 65 career games he posted them in back-to-back games with 11 points and 11 boards vs. Hartford (Dec. 5) and 21 points/12 boards vs. Sacramento St. (Dec. 1) and now has four in past nine games after 17 points and 13 rebounds vs. Utah on Jan. 2...nine field goals and five assists vs. Sacramento St. were career-bests, as was 14 rebounds and five blocks vs. Dartmouth on Dec. 15...nine 20-point games and four this year (24 vs. Arkansas, 21 vs. Sacramento St. and vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 20 vs. Utah).

    MAKING/SHOOTING THREES
ASU had 14 three-pointers at Texas Tech on Dec. 22, just the 12th time in school history it had hit 14 and it tied for the second-most in a road game. ASU hit 16 at Brigham Young on Dec. 1, 1992, and also had 14 at Oregon on Jan. 30, 1993. Eight of the top 12 games have happened under Coach Sendek's watch. It then made 10-of-30 against Coppin State on Dec. 2, as the 30 three-point attempts is the most since ASU had 40 vs. Oregon on March 5, 2011.

    LINEUP
With ASU using the same starting lineup in every game this year, here are some good notes on how different that has been this season...with its injuries and illnesses ASU used 11 starting lineups and 11 players made a start in 2010-11 and those numbers finished at 12 and eight in 2011-12...no player played in every game in 2011-12...12 lineups last year was most by the Sun Devils since 2003-04 team started 13 and tied for second-most in 19 seasons...1995-96 team under Bill Frieder also tried 12 options...each of ASU's top four scorers missed at least two games due to injury in 2011-12...ASU had its full compliment of players in just 10 of 18 Pac-10 tilts in 2010-11 and for just 10 of 18 in 2011-12.

    BACK TO NORMAL
ASU has had less turnovers than its opponent in six of the past eight games and in the past nine games is averaging 11.3 turnovers per tilt. In the first six games they were at 15.5 turnovers per game.

    CLOSE GAME STATS
ASU is now 7-4 in overtime under Coach Sendek after its 55-54 win over Utah on Jan. 2. Many say that a two-possession game (six points) is a close game, and if you go by that ASU is 29-22 (.569) in those contests in the past six seasons.

    JAHII UPDATE
Freshman Jahii Carson is averaging 16.7 points and 5.4 assists per game, just shy of a pretty solid note. According to ESPN Stats, no freshman has averaged 17 points and five assists in a season since Shaheen Holloway of Seton Hall in 1996-97 (17.3/6.3)...has led or shared the team lead in scoring in nine games this season...has 81 assists, on pace for 150 which has been done by just 11 freshmen at Pac-12 schools...vs. Creighton he became fourth Sun Devil freshman to score 30...five 20-point games (30 vs. No. 14 Creighton, 21 vs. CS Northridge and Cornell, 20 vs. Hartford and Florida A&M) already is tied for fourth-best among ASU freshmen....with 81 assists and 82 field goals, he has played a part in 42.3 percent of team's 385 buckets....30 points vs. Creighton is tied for sixth-most points scored by a Sun Devil in Coach Sendek era.

    DEVELOPING BIG MAN
After not playing his senior year in high school (2007-08) due to an injury and then taking two years off from hoops for LDS Mission to Miami (2008-10), Jordan Bachynski (ba-CHIN-ski) is developing into a solid post presence. One thing to keep in mind about his development is how two of ASU's past big men developed, as in his senior year (2008-09) Jeff Pendergraph led the nation in field goal percentage (.660) en route to become the first pick of the second round in the 2009 NBA Draft, while Eric Boateng, who played for the 2012 Great Britain Olympic team, led the Pac-10 in field goal percentage in 2009-10 (.665)...has three double-doubles on the year and four in his career including a the first triple-double in ASU history on Dec. 8 with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks vs. Cal State Northridge.

    VS. THE BEAVERS
Coach Sendek is 8-3 vs. Oregon State in his six years at Arizona State including a 3-2 in Corvallis...ASU is 23-12 against Oregon State in Tempe since it joined the Pac-10 in 1978-79. It is its most wins in Tempe against any team and is 13-20 in Corvallis...ASU shot .592 from the field (29-of-49), the fourth-best shooting percentage in a Pac-10/12 game under Coach Sendek in the ASU win last season.

    VS. THE DUCKS
ASU will go to Matt Court for the first time on Sunday. Yep, you read that correctly. ASU closed McArthur Court on Jan. 1, 2011(yes, New Year's Day) with a 60-55 win. Carrick Felix had 19 points in the win, while Ruslan Pateev added 10 points in 28 minutes. Jordan Bachynski played one minute. The teams only played once last year and it was in Tempe...Oregon has won the past two against ASU, winning the only game last year in Tempe and a 2011 Pac-10 Tournament game...ASU had swept the regular season series with Oregon in each of the previous three seasons and had won six straight in the series prior to the back-to-back losses...ASU has swept the Ducks 12 times in its 34 Pac-10 seasons in the regular season: 1979-80, '80-81, '82-83, '88-89, '90-91, '91-92, '92-93, '00-01, '04-05, '08-09, '09-10 and '10-11...ASU is 22-12 (.647) against the Ducks in Pac-10 play in Tempe...ASU is 7-5 against UO under Coach Sendek, including 3-2 in Eugene, 4-2 in Tempe and 0-1 in the Pac-10 Tournament...ASU is 41-33 against the Ducks all-time.

    EVAN HEATING UP
Evan Gordon, brother of NBA player Eric Gordon, started the year 7-of-34 (.205) from the three-point stripe, but he is 21-of-48 (.438) in the past nine games from long distance. His 29-point effort vs. Sacramento State on Dec. 1 is a career high including his two years at Liberty. He then came back with 20 vs. Cal State Northridge on Dec. 12 as he has 10 20-point games. He averaged 14.4 points as a sophomore at Liberty in 2010-11 and made 112 three-pointers in his two-year career. Evan led Liberty in scoring (14.4 ppg., eighth in Big South) in his sophomore year (2010-11) before transferring to ASU. He has 980 career points.

    GILLING AND ABLE
Sophomore Jonathan Gilling has 107 rebounds (7.1 per game) after posting 54 all of last season. He is 12-of-32 (.375) from the three-point stripe in the past four games. Two of his past four games are his best scoring games of the season, as he had 18 at Texas Tech on Dec. 22 and 14 vs. Coppin State on Dec. 29. He also has two double-doubles on the year with 12/10 against Colorado on Jan. 6 and 13/15 vs. Florida A&M on Nov. 18.

    CARRICK IS KEY
How big of a key is Carrick Felix to Sun Devil success in 2012-13? Consider this: he averaged 14.4 points in Sun Devil wins last year and 8.8 losses. How important are those 5.6 points per game? ASU's scoring margin in 31 games last year was -5.3 ppg.

    THE FIRST
Junior Jordan Bachynski's 13 points, 12 boards and 12 blocks vs. Cal State Northridge on Dec. 8 is the only triple-double in Sun Devil history. He set the school record with 12 blocks, topping his own mark of nine set in the opener on Nov. 10 vs. Central Arkansas. It marked the first triple-double by a Pac-10/12 player since Daniel Hackett had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 dimes vs. South Carolina on Nov. 17, 2007. The 12 blocks is tied for the second-most by a Pac-10/12 player along with Stanford's Brook Lopez, who had a dozen vs. USC on Jan. 25, 2007.

MOST BLOCKS IN SUN DEVIL HISTORY
12, Jordan Bachynski vs. Cal State Northridge, Dec. 8, 2012
9, Jordan Bachynski vs. Colorado, Jan. 6, 2013
9, Jordan Bachynski vs. Central Arkansas, Nov. 10, 2012

    WINS VS. THE TOP GUYS
We are not sure how many current coaches are able be able to say they got a W over the top two coaches in terms of wins in in college basketball history, but Coach Sendek is one of them. Coach Sendek topped Coach K while at NC State on three occasions. NC State beat top-ranked Duke 78-74 in Raleigh on Feb. 15, 2004 and the year prior beat third-ranked Duke 80-71 on Jan. 22, 2003. His other win was in the 1997 ACC Tournament on March 7 when the Wolfpack shocked seventh-ranked Duke on the way to the ACC title game in his first season. The win over Jim Boeheim's Syracuse squad was an 82-68 win over the ninth-ranked Orangemen in the Carrier Dome on Dec. 8, 2001. Among other top-10 coaches, Coach Sendek posted single wins over Jim Calhoun (873 career wins) which was a win to get NC State to the Sweet Sixteen, Jim Phelan of Mt. St. Mary's (830 career wins) and one win over Lute Olson (780 wins), which was a 1995 NCAA Tournament victory in Dayton. Coach Sendek was 0-1 vs. Bob Knight, as his Miami (Ohio) squad lost at Indiana 92-77 on Dec. 10, 1994.
