    SECOND HALF TIPS
The Sun Devil men's hoops team (17-5; 6-3) plays host to a pair of teams coming off home sweeps when California visits Thursday at 7:30 p.m. MT (Feb. 7) followed by a 5 p.m. MT tilt vs. Stanford Saturday (Feb. 9). The Cal game will be on Pac-12 Network and the Stanford game will on ESPNU, with both being available on 620 AM. ASU has six Pac-12 wins at the halfway point for just the sixth time since joining the Pac-10 in 1978-79 (35 seasons). It was 6-3 in 1994-95, 1993-94 and 1992-93 and was 8-1 in 1980-81 and 1979-80. ASU has won three of past four, with wins over USC, UCLA and WSU and incredbily shot 64 percent in a 96-92 loss in Seattle on Saturday in which Jahii Carson posted 32 points, the most by a Sun Devil freshmen in a road game. ASU is averaging 82.8 points in its past four games. ASU has cleaned up early turnover issues (15.5 first six games but 11.2 in past 16) and has outshot the opponent in 10 of the past 12 games.

    GILLING AND ABLE
Sophomore Jonathan Gilling has 154 rebounds (7.0 per game) after posting 54 all of last season. He has made 28 three-pointers in the past 11 games. He posted a career high 22 at Washington on Feb. 2 (including a career-best six three-ponters). Gilling also had 18 points at Texas Tech on Dec. 22 and 14 at Oregon State on Jan. 10 and vs. Coppin State on Dec. 29. He is averaging 11.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and five assists in the past four games.

With 17 points at Oregon on Jan. 14 Evan Gordon (brother of NBA guard Eric) reached the 1,000-point mark in his college career. He averaged 14.4 points per game in 2010-11 (460 points) and 12.0 points in his freshman year of 2009-10 (372 points) and has 240 points this year (10.9 per game). THIS WAS IMPRESSIVE
ASU outrebounded UCLA 53-33 on Jan. 26, and the +20 margin is the biggest rebounding margin in a conference game for ASU under Coach Sendek (117 Pac-12 games). Its 98 points vs. USC was the third-most in the Coach Sendek era at ASU.

    BLOCK PARTY
ASU has 155 blocks in 20 games (7.04 per game) which enters this week as fourth in the nation and opponents have taken 1,357 shots so that means every 8.75 field goal attempt gets blocked by a Sun Devil...junior Jordan Bachynski has 91 blocks (4.3 PG) and last year's Pac-12 leader, Eric Moreland of Oregon State, fihished with 69/1.9 bpg...in the first 41 games of his career Jordan Bachynski shot 42-of-88 (.478) from field. In the past 35 games he is 134-212 (.632)...ASU has 155 blocks on the year, the most by a Sun Devil squad since the 1996-97 team had school record 172.

    SUN DEVIL SEASON BLOCKS
    1. 172 - 1996-97
    2. 165 - 1994-95
    2. 165 - 1978-79

(UCLA holds Pac-12 record for blocks with 199 in 2010-11)

    CLOSE GAME STATS
ASU is now 8-4 in overtime under Coach Sendek after its 55-54 win over Utah on Jan. 2 and its 98-93 track meet win vs. USC on Jan. 24. Many say that a two-possession game (six points) is a close game, and if you go by that ASU is 31-24 (.564) in those contests in the past six seasons.

    THREES
ASU had 14 three-pointers at Texas Tech on Dec. 22, just the 12th time in school history it had hit 14 and it tied for the second-most in a road game. ASU hit 16 at Brigham Young on Dec. 1, 1992, and also had 14 at Oregon on Jan. 30, 1993.

    JAHII
Jahii Carson, with 20 points at Oregon State (Jan. 10) and at Oregon (Jan. 13), became the first Sun Devil freshman to get back-to-back 20-point games on a Pac-12 road trip since Steve Beck in the Bay Area on March 1-3, 1984. Beck had four 20-point games in Pac-12 road games, as did James Harden (2007-08), Ike Diogu(2002-03) and Jamal Faulkner (1990-91), but none of that trio did it on the same Pac-12 road weekend and now his streak is at four 20-point games on the road with 25 at Washington State and 32 at Washington.

    JORDAN BLOCK-SHYNSKI
In the first six seasons (197 games) of Coach Sendek's ASU tenure, ASU had nine blocks in a game four times. It has had at least nine blocks nine times this season. An overlooked block statistic for Jordan is keeping it in play. Of his 91 blocks, 56 have resulted in direct possessions for ASU. He has now 152 career blocks. The Sun Devil career record is 191 (Mario Bennett from 1991-95).
