The Sun Devil men's hoops team played three periods Saturday morning at Wells Fargo Arena and as expected showed that the strength of its squad will be a balanced backcourt. Freshman Jahii Carson led the Sun Devils with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while junior transfer Evan Gordon added nine points in in a maroon and gold scrimmage.
Gordon, who led Liberty in scoring in 2010-11, showed a good mid-range game in his first action in front of the public this season.
"One thing Evan can do is score, so he will take good shots, and he really gives us a scoring dimension," says Coach Sendek. "Today I think we saw a little bit of that."

"He's a guy who can change the game and affect the offense," notes Carson about Gordon. "I think he is going to be a sleeper (player) and people need to watch out for him."

Senior Carrick Felix added eight points and six boards as players swapped gold and maroon uniforms in each 10-minute session.
"Carrick Felix has really emerged as a leader, he has just done a great job with leadership," notes Coach Sendek. "He's a fifth-year senior, a young man that has already graduated and is working on his masters program. He has just been a real consistent voice for our team. He's been encouraging and he has been firm when he as to."
Caught the #ASU hoops scrimmage today. @jahii_carson1 was dynamic and a great quarterback. Biggest take away for me was play of Evan Gordon.
