YES, IT WAS THE FIRST
Junior Jordan Bachynski's 13 points, 12 boards and 12 blocks is the first triple-double in Sun Devil history. It marked the first triple-double by a Pac-10/12 player since Daniel Hackett had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists vs. South Carolina on Nov. 17, 2007. The 12 blocks is tied for the second-most by a Pac-10/12 player along with Stanford's Brook Lopez, who had a dozen vs. USC on Jan. 25, 2007.

EVAN SHOOTING IT
Evan Gordonstarted the year 7-of-34 from the three-point stripe, but he is 12-of-24 in his past three games from long distance.
Eric Jacobsen UPDATE
A freshmen from a local East Valley high school is looking great recently...and this one's name isn't Jahii. Hamilton High School's Eric Jacobsen had 16 points vs. Hartford on Dec. 5, the most by a Sun Devil freshmen off the bench since Trent Locketthad 17 vs. Texas State on Nov. 16, 2009...team's youngest player (born in June of 1994)...in past three games he is averaging eight points and 5.3 boards in 44 minutes...entered Sacramento State Dec. 1 game with 10 rebounds on the year and three offensive rebounds and then used his size 17 shoes to post six offensive boards and nine total rebounds in 16 minutes.

16, Eric Jacobsen vs. Hartford (Dec. 5, 2012)

DEPAUL VISIT
ASU beat Villanova 73-62 in overtime on Dec. 29, 1993, the last time a Big East team came to Wells Fargo Arena. ASU will return the trip to Chicago in 2013-14. In the past decade, only four Pac-12 teams have hosted a Big East team in regular season play. ASU is 1-3 vs. DePaul with the last game a 68-64 DePaul win last November in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando...prior to that, the previous matchup was a 73-72 ASU overtime win on Nov. 27, 1982, at the Crush Classic in Rosemont, Ill.
CARRICK UPDATE
Senior Carrick Felix(B.S. Communications, 2012) is averaging 18.5 points and 7.3 rebounds and is shooting 42-of-63 (.667) from the field and 11-of-23 (.478) from the three-point stripe in the past six games. A reporter asked Carrick after the game if he had remembered ever having no turnovers in a game, so we looked it up. It marked the sixth time he had played turnover free in a game (minimum 15 minutes played)...named Pac-12 Player of the Week for his efforts from Nov. 26-Dec. 2...after not having a double-double in the first 65 games of his career he posted them in back-to-back games, getting 11 points and 11 boards vs. Hartford (Dec. 5) and 21 points and career-high 12 boards vs. Sacramento State (Dec. 1)...nine field goals and five assists vs. Sacramento State also were career-bests...has eight 20-point games and three this year (24 vs. Arkansas, 21 vs. Sacramento State and vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff).
SOME NOTES ON HERB'S SCORING
It is early in the year, but in looking at the numbers easy to see that ASU is averaging 79 points per game, ASU's best mark since the Eddie House-led Sun Devils averaged 79.3 points per game in 1999-2000. In Coach Sendek's final five seasons at NC State (2001-2006), his team's averaged 73.7 points per game (192 games) including 75.4 points per game in 2001-02. His final team at NC State averaged 74.5 points per game. How does that 74.5 points per game from 2005-06 compare to the current Pac-12? It would have been the third-highest scoring team in the Pac-12 in each of the past two seasons.
CARRICK IS KEY
How big of a key is Carrick Felixto Sun Devil success in 2012-13? Consider this: he averaged 14.4 points in Sun Devil wins last year and 8.8 losses. How important are those 5.6 points per game? ASU's scoring margin in 31 games last year was -5.3 pp.
Jah-HEE
As of Thursday (Dec. 11), Jahii (say it Jah-hEE) Carson is third-best freshman scorer in nation at 18.6 points ppg...vs. Creighton he became the fourth Sun Devil freshman to score 30...56 free throws made entering Tuesday games is tops among freshman in the nation and tied for ninth overall, while 77 free throw attemps is tops among freshmen and eighth nationally...five 20-point games (30 vs. No. 14 Creighton, 21 vs. CS Northridge and Cornell, 20 vs. Hartford and Florida A&M) already is tied for fourth-best among ASU freshmen....with 49 assists and 50 field goals made, he has played a part in 42 percent of team's 238 buckets....30 points vs. Creighton is tied for sixth-most points scored by a Sun Devil in the Coach Sendek era.

COACHES GO BACK A WAYS
Overall Coach Sendek is 5-2 vs. Oliver Purnell, as he was 2-0 vs. him when the two squared off in southern Ohio as Miami of Ohio topped Dayton 81-72 on Dec. 4, 1995, and at Dayton 79-56 on Dec. 30, 1995. In the three years of paths crossing in the ACC, NC State beat Clemson three out of four times.
BLOCKS
After notching had 11 blocks in each of its first three games (the most since it had 13 vs Washington on Jan. 9, 2003) the Sun Devils notched 13 against Cal State Northridge on Dec. 8 led by Jordan Bachynski's12...in the first 197 games of Coach Sendek's ASU tenure, ASU had nine blocks in a game four times. It has had at least nine blocks five times this season.
EVAN UPDATE
The 29-point effort by Evan Gordon vs. Sacramento State on Dec. 1 was his career high. He entered the game 7-of-34 (.206) from the three-point stripe but was 5-of-9, and it was his ninth game of 20+ points going back to his two years at Liberty. He then came back with 20 vs. Cal State Northridge on Dec. 12. He averaged 14.4 points as a sophomore at Liberty in 2010-11 and made 112 three-pointers in his two-year career. Evan led Liberty in scoring with 14.4 points per game (eighth in Big South) in his sophomore year (2010-11) before transferring to ASU and has 938 career points.
