ASU football's Robert Nelson fulfilling 'calling' in secondary (Arizona Republic/April 5, 2012)
ASU: A transfer from UL-Monroe...very quick in short movements and is an instinctual player...able to jump and adjust his body to make a play on the ball...very natural when working on the line of scrimmage and in zone coverage.
2012: Saw action in all 13 games on the season, getting his first and only start in the Territorial Cup against Arizona (11/23)...played a significant role at defensive back, especially in the latter part of the season...after grabbing an interception against Colorado (10/11), he notched back-to-back games with an interception to conclude the season against Arizona as well as Navy in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (12/29)...had a monster game in the Territorial Cup, breaking up three passes to go along with his interception and four tackles...had 16 total tackles on the year (13 solo) to go along with one tackle for loss coming against Illinois (9/8).
2011: Spent season redshirting due to NCAA transfer rules; was a valuable member of the scout team.
2010: Played in all 12 games for the Warhawks...totaled 45 tackles and 10 assists for the season...had an interception at WKU and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown...had two interceptions on the year.
2009: Played in eight games as a true freshman...finished the season with six tackles, including a season-high three against Middle Tennessee...blocked an extra point at Kentucky...had tackles against Texas Southern, Kentucky and WKU...played in seven games for the UL-Monroe basketball team.
