TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State senior football players Mike Karney (Kent, Wash.) and Regis Crawford (San Diego, Calif.) have been chosen to participate in the 79th Annual East-West Shrine Game to be held at Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco on Saturday, January 10 at 11 a.m.

More than 100 of the country's top collegiate football players, representing more than 65 universities and colleges and 19 of the Associated Press' Top-25 football teams will participate. UNLV's John Robinson will coach the West team while Pittsburgh's Walt Harris will coach the East.

Crawford, a second-team All-Pac-10 selection at right guard, anchored an ASU offensive line that finished the season third in the conference in fewest sacks allowed (25) and helped the offense to a rank of 23rd in the country in passing (274.3 ypg). Karney, an honorable mention All-Pac-10 selection at fullback, started all 10 games in which he played and solidified himself as one of the top fullbacks in the conference.

The Shrine Game's purpose is to help support Shriners Hospitals for Children. Every year since 1925, the Shrine Game has been played to raise money and to help make the public aware of the orthopedic and burn care available, at no cost, at all 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children.
