    Ryan Bass Leads Maroon Team To Victory in Annual Spring Football Game

    TEMPE, Ariz. -

    Spring Game Stats Get Acrobat Reader

    Sophomore Ryan Bass had a 35-yard touchdown run to lead the Maroon Team to a 7-0 victory in Arizona State University's annual spring game on Saturday at Sun Devil Stadium, capping off the team's 15-practice spring session.

    Bass led all rushers with 61 yards on 12 carries, scoring the only touchdown of the game in the third quarter of a defensive battle.

    Junior Jamarr Robinson led the defense with three sacks, and senior Spencer Gasu, junior transfer Dean DeLeone, sophomores Lawrence Guy and Bo Moos and freshman Otis Jones also had sacks in the game. Senior Ryan McFoy, junior transfer LeQuan Lewis and sophomore Josh Jordan all had interceptions, and sophomore Clint Floyd had a fumble recovery.

    Freshman quarterback Brock Osweiler led the only touchdown drive, and he led the three quarterbacks with 66 yards on 7-for-14 passing. Sophomore Samson Szakacsy went 9-of-14 for 50 yards, and senior Danny Sullivan was 8-of-16 for 42 yards.

    Senior tight end Stanley Malamala led the team with three catches for 26 yards, and senior wide receiver Chris McGaha had 23 yards on three receptions.

    ASU's 2009 football season begins on Sept. 5 against Idaho State at Sun Devil Stadium at 7 p.m.
