College Football Performance Awards
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State linebacker Brandon Magee has earned College Football Performance Awards Bowl Subdivision Linebacker Honorable Mention honors for week three. Magee collected his second interception of the season and led the team in tackles in the Sun Devils' 24-20 loss to Missouri Sept. 15 in Columbia, Mo.
Magee intercepted Missouri quarterback Corbin Berkstresser in the redzone with just over nine minutes left in the second quarter. It was Magee's fourth interception of his career, as he had one apiece in both 2009 and 2010.
Magee recorded 12 tackles, including eight solo and a team-high 1.5 tackles-for-loss. It was the first game since December 2, 2010, when he had 13 in a 30-29 OT win at Arizona, that he led the team in tackles.
The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous distinction in college football. Recipients are selected based exclusively on objective scientific rankings and place emphasis on the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. The CFPA is also the sole group to honor national freshman performer of the year, kickoff returner, punt returner and kickoff specialist.
